I love hearing about how travel opened up Gwen's world and how she was able to share that experience with her students. I think travel for language teachers is so important. It makes me wonder if our travel to where the target language is spoken make us as instructors an authentic source too, based on our lived experiences that we can share in the classroom. It's also fun to take back authentic resources!

I'm so glad Gwen highlighted the importance of authentic resources. And I really like taking this often talked-about element of World Language teaching and applying it to other subjects. I saw it a lot as a Social Studies teacher. There, we talked about primary sources. I would love to talk to math teachers about what that can look like in math.

So true Olivia! It would be great to hear from some other subject area teachers!

Teaching a classical language makes the hunt for authentic sources a little more challenging especially for novice learners. I had not heard of Learnics or Common Sense Education so I will check those out.

You may not find Latin there but they are both great resources. 😀
