Thank you Pat and Lauren for this conversation. I appreciated the insight about how reading fiction books can develop empathy. Your lifting up Barbara Kingsolver's Demon Copperhead and the positive role that teachers can play in the lives of their students and families inspires me to think of the teachers who made a difference in my life. I am grateful for the World of Learning Institute.

I love David Copperfield! Demon Copperhead will be my next read!

I read a lot of novels, too; it's my favorite hobby! Right now I am rereading The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco in French. I can never get tired of that book.

Recently, I read Solito by Javier Zamora. I loved it, and it also helped me relate to one of my students who mentioned that he had a challenging immigrant experience. Thank you for another great and inspirational episode!

Pana, thanks for sharing your current reads! It's awesome that you can read and communicate in so many languages - and find value in how reading helps in understanding (empathizing) with your students. I am going to put The Name of the Rose at the top of my list - https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/119073.The_Name_of_the_Rose
