Hi Friends,
Olivia and I caught up on this podcast to give an update about how excited we are for the beginning of the school year. Vacation helped! We both traveled to Nova Scotia. We both agree that everyone who can visit might try Nova Scotia. Also, gardening is good for the soul.
Here are a few of the things that Olivia has been working on:
Olivia has tried storyboarding as a way to explore and frame our courses more visually. Our hope is to make our asynchronous courses more understandable for students, parents, and teachers. Heidi Hayes-Jacobs inspired her at the Annual PASCD conference to make our courses easier to navigate and more fun. (This webinar has lots of the key points HHJ talked about)
Olivia is exploring building Spanish 1 as a story of survival and using some ideas that survivalists might use. (7:25)
Our content is forward-facing now. All students, parents, and districts can see the whole course right from day one.
Latin, Chinese and Arabic all got updated this summer - some of the teachers followed Olivia’s lead and used components of storyboarding.
Olivia feels much more comfortable in the backend of our course building. She is ready to help you fine-tune our courses to meet your needs.
Olivia is on the ACTFL DEI committee and is excited to work with a great team of Language Educators to promote a diverse and inclusive language education community by working to break down barriers to access and opportunity.
Summer Fun
We got electric bikes. It has been fun getting out in Stroudsburg and my surrounding area. The views have been stunning.
What are you up to?? We would love to hear about your summer!
As always - we are here to help if you need a teacher and can’t find one!!
