Lauren and I went solo on this podcast to give an update about what the WOL is up to this summer!
Here are a few of the things that Lauren has been working on:
Lauren is excited to know folks from our districts after a whole year at WOL!!
She is leading the implementation of a single sign-on Student Information System (SIS) - Genius. We hope the awesome features like; a dashboard, easier access to grades, and student progress - while streamlining our communications.
Shout out to Benny and Junior for all their help. The folks at Genius are 100% Can Do folks. As Lauren says - the tool and their help make this a priceless experience!
Lauren has also collaborated with Olivia to work on our Summer Professional Learning for our teachers. I love the theme they have chosen - Everyone means Everyone!
It is exciting to see our teachers interacting and learning together on the discussion boards and assignments. They really are the most amazing, collaborative team of teachers. I feel blessed!
Lauren has been supporting our newer districts with Demo’s of our courses - and for everyone else getting their students scheduled! (If we don’t have your schedule get it to us soon.)
Olivia and Lauren attended the Appalachia IU8 Principals conference in Bedford Springs. They were impressed with the district leadership and in Joe Sanfelippos’ keynote. So inspiring. If you didn’t make it this year, plan ahead for a great leadership retreat next summer.
In addition to her day job, Lauren is looking to move from the Boston area to the suburbs of Philadelphia. If you have looked for a house you know how hard that can be! We look forward to having her back in Pennsylvania.
Summer Fun
Our teachers have visited lots of summer spots with their families!
The New Jersey shore, Seattle, France, Belgium, Germany, Nova Scotia, Canada, and more.
I traveled to Cape Breton and hiked the Cabot Trail - we got around in a van called Van Morrison!
I read two great books! The first was The Lincoln Highway by Amor Towles and The People we Keep by Allison Larkin (Olivia’s original recommendation, so good!)
