We Do This Everyday - Recap Season 2!

Hi, World of Learning Friends,

I am a bit behind today as I prepare to send this out! We are in a flurry of activity - the kind that happens at the end of the school year. And, we are excited to be hosting the WOL Japanese Honor Society, one of those awesome things that happens in this flurry. This is the second year of being able to lift up our distinguished students who study Japanese. Hats off to our Japanese Virtual Learning Facilitators, Ellen, Michiyo, Fumiko, and Pana, who through their own passion see the love of learning grow in their students!

Our Podcast - We Do This Everyday is winding down our second season. WE are SO grateful for the conversations we get to have with so many of you. Thanks for listening in, commenting, hitting the heart button, and encouraging us to lift up the voices of the learner and those who support them.

Here are a few of my favorite reasons to do a podcast:

  1. I get to talk with people who believe in their heart that students matter, students are trustworthy, and that the education we provide them needs to honor their excellence, expereriences.

  2. The podcast has featured various co-hosts, including our own Olivia Grugan, Lauren McMinn, Erin Siverd, and Anita Young (now the Director of BILD at Huntingdon School District). And, we have drawn inspiration from Dr. Tom Butler, Chris Davis, Allie Rodman, Allison Zmuda, Heidi Hayes Jacobs, and Barb Davis, thanks to everyone else who inspire us, too.

  3. The podcast has covered a wide range of topics, including Ashely talking her own learning journey and how that made her empathetic, Ying-Fang and Vivi taught us about Lunar New Year , Fiona Grugan from University of Arizona spoke withus about Student Succes. We also dove into media literacy, reflection, creating priorities to stay relevant, and dreaming about what's possible.

  4. The podcast has included students' voices, Ally and Aliza bring such fresh perspectives, and we have plans to include more student voices.

  5. The World of Learning Institute strives to be a little bit better every day, and this mindset adds up over time. Our team of Virtual Learning Facilitators, Virtual Learning Specialist, and the rest of our team love to learn together. Our goal is ALWAYS to create an experience that students can enjoy, find challenge and support, and expand their possibilities - one day at a time.

We are always glad to talk with you and to partner with you when you need a teacher. And, in 2023 - 24 we will offer a full-time option for students as an alternative to PA Cyber Charter Schools. Stay tuned for more information.

Have a great week,

Pat
