Show Notes Summary:
In this episode of We Do This Every Day, I interviewed members of the World of Learning team: Melissa Henderson, Olivia Grugan, and Sonya Yoder. Listen in as they share powerful stories about how virtual learning has filled real gaps for students and districts in Appalachia IU8 and beyond. Three stories are highlighted, one where we supported a student who became a family caregiver, another where we help a homebound learner thrive, and when a district wanted to expand their World Language offerings, they partnered with the World of Learning to provide American Sign Language.
Through our varied offering in 8 different languages, to our Extended Campus program that offers a full-time option, these stories highlight the flexibility, compassion, and innovation that define World of Learnings’ approach.
Listeners in to hear how virtual learning can:
Keep students engaged during personal or family crises
Support access to specialized courses like American Sign Language or high-level German
Provide in-person (virtual) teachers during staff shortages without sacrificing quality
Provide rural and small districts with equitable access to world-class instruction
These real examples show how WOL partners with schools to bring human connection into the virtual classroom and ensure no student is left behind — academically or emotionally.
