Authentic, Relevant and Engaging Virtual World Language Instruction - Inspiring Kindness through Language, Learning, and Culture
,
I am so excited about our Life Skills Spanish classes!! It reminds me that so much more is possible than we sometimes want to believe. The limits we put on what a child (or adult) can learn is sometimes our downfall. Wouldn’t it be great if we gave opportunities to ALL our children to have hands-on learning experiences, World Languages, Music, Art and STEM?
As I have watched Anita Young and Senor Joe interact with our students I am amazed at the potential. And it fills your cup - as a teacher, administrator and participant. Everyone wins. I am grateful that Anita is leading the way with this opportunity.
This past week we participated in a Leadership and Innovation conference hosted by IU8. What was most exciting about this conference was that the people who were there were such active participants. The conversations were really focused on ALL students learning and accessing what they need to help them to be successful in school and beyone. Technology, mentors, partnerships. All ways to connect and collaborate - not only with each other, but also with businesses and other community organizations.

Finding teachers and retaining them is a large focus for us all. At the WOL Institue we believe that taking care of the adults who work with students is our most important job. Some days that means we help with planning for a live session, other times with grading. The most rewarding times though, are the times when we collaborate to create a more authentice assessment or practice with a new engagement stratagy or tool.
What is working for you to help to fill your teachers cup? The Leadership Freak reminded us “you can’t pour in more that you pour out!”
Here are a few of his tips for feeling young again:
“Pouring in makes you feel young again. Rejuvenation is more than doing nothing. Boredom makes you old and tired.
Can you do some of these things that restore vitality:
Exercise.
Read.
Sew.
Walk.
Eat fruit.
Connect with friends.
Take think-time.
Add variety.
Express gratitude.
Give generously.”
