If you know someone that might want to expand their World Language program or needs help finding a teacher for a World Language, Calculus or Chemistry please share this email with them.
We hope you are settled in and off to a good school year. Getting back to in-person learning is a welcome change for many of us. As we have shifted from getting students into classed we have had the opportunity to do some professional learning and presenting at a few conferences - IN PERSON!!
While our topics are usually about virtual engagement - folks are surprised, and often glad, when they hear us talk about the importance of the teacher. We talk about the value of a teachers sense of Belonging, their Authenticity, and Integrity. We highlight the support we give teachers in getting to know students to make lessons relevant. One example is using empathy interviews - which give us great insight to students interest and learning needs. We also provide templates for regular messaging to let students know what to expect each week. We call them Monday Morning Messages (MMM’s). These messages are a great way to include resources for students to engage with the content in ways that are authentic and relevant to the learners.
We also encourage our teachers to reach out to each other and to our leadership team for support when they have a new idea or want some help. Who do your teachers reach out to? Who are your three??

Using technology tools can really gets students and families engaged in virtual learning. Have you thought about using virtual instruction in your school programs or to invite guest speakers, host musical or theater events, or stream sporting events? The benefits of virtual options can support building community and instruction as the cold and flu season approaches.
Using live sessions to host guest speakers brings the real world into the classroom. Virtual trips can take students to work sites, museums and other places that make learning relevant, too. Providing office hours in the evening or hosting a coffee-break can help make connections in a less formal environment for parents who can’t get to school during the work day.
Have you thought about using virtual tools for students and parents?
Here are a few things we have tried:
Office hours and coffee breaks - students can check in with teachers when they have a question, are absent, or need to be quarentined.
Check in with parents - host a mini open house. Give parents a chance to get to know you and keep them posted about what is happening in the school or classroom.
Hosting a virtual game or movie night are a great way to make learning fun - and everyone can do it from the comfort of their own home.
Our programs are not one-size-fits all! Contact us to find out how we can help with Elementary, Middle School Exploratory or even with Core or Elective offerings. We work with amazing teachers who understand how to connect with students using virtual tools, and who create engaging asynchronous instruction.
One Side Does NOT Fit ALL
We offer Arabic, Japanese, Chinese, Portuguese, ASl, Elementary Spanish and MS Exploratory Courses, in addition to Spanish, French, German and Latin. It seems crazy, but are you thinking about next year, yet??
